Kansas treasurer Jake Laturner is hoping a trip to the nation’s capitol will bring his office one step closer to returning hundreds of millions of missing Kansas dollars.
Laturner and attorneys representing his office are headed to the U.S. Court of Federal Appeals tomorrow morning. Laturner’s focus is on recovering an estimated $200 million dollars of lost, abandoned, unclaimed and-or stolen United States savings bonds for Kansans.
In August of 2017, the court of federal claims ruled Kansas was entitled to information from the U.S. Treasury related to sale of those bonds. Laturner says it’s time for the government to, quote, “honor its commitments and repay its debt.”
