Lamar PD getting ready for Shop with a Cop

The Lamar Police Department is getting ready for the 11th annual shop with a cop.

More than 100 children from Lamar, Liberal, Golden City, Lockwood, and Jasper will be invited to go on a shopping spree with the Lamar police for the holidays.

Shop with a Cop consists of a breakfast with the cops and families to break the ice and start building a relationship with the community. Kids will then be escorted by the police to shop for presents. The participating kids will receive a 100-dollar gift card.

Chief Dep. John Davis, Lamar Police Dept.
“When you’re dealing with kids it’s just an overall good feeling. There’s no other feeling to see a child’s eyes light up, because they’re getting presents and they’re having a good time with the officers and such.”

If you wish to help, donations are being accepted. You can mail or bring cash or check to the Lamar Police Department at 1106 Broadway. You can also call Chief Deputy Davis at 417-682-3546 and he can come to you to pick up your donation.
