Lamar students were in for a special treat today, as some alumni made a grand entrance onto campus.
Veterans Zach Barnes and Derek Forst, flew to campus in a Blackhawk helicopter. They were asked to come back to help dedicate the newly remade veteran memorial on the football field. The kids got to look up close at what a military helicopter does, and the excitement did not just stop with them.
“It was pretty fun flying back to our original high school and kind of showing the community what we do,” says Derek Forst.
Forst says it’s also a great time to see the town again and talk to some students who might like to join the ranks.
