KS Bill to create constitutional amendment advanced to House floor

News

Kansas lawmakers in the House judiciary committee advance a bill creating a constitutional amendment, sending it now to the House floor.

The vote was close with 12 voting for it and 10 against it.

Right now the constitution says Kansas must make “suitable” provisions to finance education. The amendment would define what “suitable” means.

But, House leaders say it is unlikely the bill will be taken up this week.
