Kansas cold weather rule to soon go into effect

The cold weather rule in Kansas goes into effect soon.

It’s designed to help residents that get behind on their utility bills avoid disconnection during the winter months. The rule takes effect on November 1st and runs through March 31st. It requires utilities to offer a 12 month payment plan or re-establish utility service.

The rule applies to customers of electric and natural gas companies.
