JPD names new Assistant Chief

JOPLIN, Mo. — A former Joplin Police Officer is returning to the department.

Brian Lewis has been chosen to fill the department’s Assistant Chief position.

Lewis served JPD for 21 years before retiring as assistant police chief in 2015.

He worked his way through the ranks, serving in patrol, as an officer, corporal, sergeant, and in internal affairs.

His first day back on duty will be February 3rd.
