A Joplin student gets national recognition for improving his reading skills.
Ian Osborne got the “Read 180” award at a surprise reception at All Aboard Ice Cream. He’s a seventh grader at Joplin’s South Middle School. Osborne’s teacher Tashena Vickers nominated him after seeing drastic changes in how he was handling books.
“And just in two years, he’s raised his reading level four grades so he’s made an incredible amount of improvement in reading,” says Tashena Vickers.
The “Read 180” award means Osborne gets five hundred dollars and a hundred dollars worth of books for his prize.
