If you’ve ever wondered where Joplin School Districts extra or used school books or desks go we found out whey just auction it off.

The districts hosts the annual surplus auction each year.

While they don’t make a large amount of money from the auction, it does help the general fund for the year.

Dozens of residents packed the old bus barn hoping to walk home with old textbooks, desks, chairs or even signs.

“It’s the best way the district has found to get rid of our excess and so we bring it out for the auction.” said David Petit Joplin School District.

Once all of these items are cleared out, staff will start collecting more surplus items on Monday.
