A local organization needs your help to provide services during the holiday season as well as throughout the coming year.
Major Beckie Sterns says the Joplin Salvation Army has now reached more than forty percent of the goal they’ve set for their Red Kettle Campaign. Stearns says they’ve received a lot of help from area companies when it comes to purchasing gifts, but what they really need now is money. And she says how much they are able to raise will determine what services they’ll be able to offer to clients in 2019.
“Don’t do any other major fundraisers throughout the year, this is money that will go to help people all year long, and sometimes we’re so focussed on Christmas that we don’t think about the outcome of the whole year’s going to be, the Salvation Army plans in advance for that in hopes that we’ll be able to continue to help people at the rate we are,” says Major Beckie Stearns, Joplin Salvation Army.
There are several ways to donate, they include mailing in or dropping off checks to 320 East 8th Street 64801, texting S-A-Joplin to 91999, or dropping donations into Red Kettles outside several locations. The goal for the campaign is $225 thousand dollars.
