The Salvation Army in Joplin is kicking off the Red Kettle Drive for 2018.
This is the organization’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Santa showed up, the Missouri Southern chamber singers performed, and there was chili for everyone. The Salvation Army directors also announced a new way people can give.
“Yeah, one of the ways here, you’ll see it on the sign, you’ll see Text to Donate 91999 slash SA Joplin. That’s something new that we’ve started this year. People want to come up, they can do it on their phone,” says Major Douglas Stearns.
The goal this year is $255 thousand dollars. That’s 10 thousand more than last year.
