A local charitable group is hoping the Christmas spirit will help boost Red Kettle collections.
Leaders of the Joplin Salvation Army say they are about ten thousand dollars behind collection trends from 2017. They add this is a crucial time of year for collecting donations, with Red Kettle funds paying for much of their operations throughout the year.
“I don’t like to be negative but we’re about, and we fell short last year. So we’re a little concerned obviously. Because obviously the need is still great,” says Beckie Stearns, Joplin Salvation Army.
Supporters can donate at any Red Kettle, by check to the Joplin headquarters, with a credit by phone, or even text a donation with “S.A. Joplin” to 91999.
