Joplin Police use Social Media to Spotlight Crimes

Joplin, M0- Joplin Police are now displaying arrests around Joplin on social media through “Incident Spotlight.”

The posts are to show the Joplin community different crimes and cases that are handled by the police department.  JPD is specifically using Twitter and Facebook to reach a wider audience for Incident Spotlight.

Trevor Duncan, who writes the posts says there is a lot of positive feedback from the community and wants to continue the open communication between JPD and citizens.  He says, “A lot of people feel like we’ve just now stepped up our efforts, Because they are just now hearing about it. So, it’s opened some dialogue to have conversations with those people that really the arrests are nothing new just us telling you about it on a daily basis is what’s new.”

Duncan began the Incident Spotlight two weeks ago.
