Joplin PD preps for influx of Labor Day weekend drivers

News

Joplin police are getting ready for one of the most dangerous holiday weekends.

Labor Day weekend is the last extended weekend of the summer, which means more drivers on the roads. JPD is planning for the influx of people out and about, and are planning to be on the lookout for impaired drivers. Joplin police say the public can help too— if you see something, say something.

“We always see people call in on careless driving and impaired driving and recently we’ve seen several calls that end in arrests, because people call in on an impaired driver. We’ve been able to get in place on time and stop that person and confirm they’re impaired and make an arrest,” says Capt. Trevor Duncan.

When you see a person getting behind the wheel under the influence, you can call 911 and dispatch will direct the call accordingly.
