UPDATE FRIDAY: After a man is shot multiple times at 21st at South Empire late Thursday evening Capt William Davis of the Joplin Police Department releases a statement there is no further threat to the public Friday.

“Police have identifed the shooter and are not actively seeking any other individuals related to this incident. There is no further threat to the community.”

But still there is a lot of information yet to be released. Only one man is arrested for being in possession of a stolen firearm.

New information revealed tells us that the man rushed to the hospital Priority One, suffering multiple gunshot wounds, is now in serious but stable condition.

“Officers and Detectives did recover multiple firearms on scene, including two stolen handguns. A separate individual involved in the incident was arrested on scene for Stealing after being found to be in possession of one of the stolen firearms,” Capt William Davis states.

ORIGINAL STORY JOPLIN, Mo. — About 10:50 PM Joplin dispatch were alerted to reports of a disturbance, which then became gunshots, in the area of 21st and South Empire in Joplin.

Joplin Fire Department and Fire Rescue along with METS ambulance responded to the report of a person who had been shot at the location of 2019 South Empire.

Sgt Dan Haskins of the Joplin Police Department confirms a man had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The victim, age unknown, was rushed Priority One suffering life threatening injuries.

Sgt Haskins tells us it’s too early to tell many details. They are talking to multiple witnesses and gathering evidence. No one is in custody or detained regarding the shooting.
