JOPLIN METRO — Saturday weather across the Joplin area region continued to be quite diverse. Snow and ice conditions were more extreme to the SW of Joplin, like MO-39, SW of Cassville, Mo. where a Dollar General tractor trailer overturned, blocking the highway.
About 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon Missouri State Highway Patrol investigate a rollover crash. Information and images from Central Crossing Fire Protection District — Shell Knob, “39 Highway just south of Kings Harbor Resort. Crews are working a semi rollover. The roadway is mostly blocked. Smaller vehicles are being alternated 1 lane at a time. Roadway will be closed for an unknown time once the towing company arrives on scene. Expect delays, avoid the area if at all possible.”
To set the trailer box upright, it required offloading. “Equipment and manpower are having to be used to offload the trailer before it can be uprighted due to excessive damage. The roadway will eventually be completely closed at an unknown point later this evening.”
10:45 p.m. MO-39 was closed both directions as the tractor and trailer were set upright.
About 1:00 a.m. authorities state after 11 hours all units were back in service as the roadway was cleared and reopened.
