VIDEO FROM SECURITY CAMERAS SAT DEC. 11 AT A JOPLIN/NEWTON COUNTY, MO RETAIL STORE. POLICE REPORT WITH JOPLIN POLICE. SUSPECT ARRESTED DEC. 14.
JOPLIN, Mo. — The Community Action Group: Joplin Area Stolen Items shared security footage of a suspect taking a purse/wristlet at a local retail store Dec. 11 after a shopper had accidentally sat it down and walked away. Tipsters identified her to local authorities and she was arrested Tuesday.
Capt. William Davis of the Joplin Police Department tells us the suspect, now identified as Cherie Herron, rural Neosho, was arrested by JPD detectives and the Newton County Prosecutor’s office of William Lynch filed three counts of Felony Stealing.
The store owner tells us the suspect was so brazen as the entire staff was searching for the misplaced purse/wristlet, and yet the suspect was still in the store. She says it was obvious to everyone what they were looking for. The victim’s SUV key FOB was in her purse and had to call someone to pick her up. As well as cash, cards and other irreplaceable personal items.
Thank you tipsters for your work.
