JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — About 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening Jasper County E-911 received reports regarding a rollover crash with ejection, CR170 and Fairview, west of Carthage.
Carthage Fire Dept, Mercy EMS, METS ambulance, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol responded.
Cpl. J.L. Prewitt of Troop D tells us on the scene there were four occupants of the car and all were ejected in this rollover crash. No one was wearing a seat belt.

The vehicle was traveling south on County Road 170, he tells us. Lost control just south of Fairview, traveling through a fence, overturning and coming to rest on its side, in a field.

He tells us they were all females and all suffered serious injuries. Ages 15, 16, 17 and 18. The youngest was flown to Springfield Mercy hospital. The others transported to Joplin. As per standard MSHP policy they do not release names of those 17 and under involved in traffic crashes. The driver of the 2001 PT Cruiser was Leala Bowers, 18. All were from Joplin.
Schrader’s Towing removed the vehicle and debris from the crash scene.
