JOPLIN, Mo. — Capt Trevor Duncan tells us Friday evening a Joplin Police investigation of a Domestic with a Weapon has activated Joplin SWAT to assist.

JPD SWAT have assembled at a residence in the 400 block of East 33rd. Prior to SWAT arrival officers began a ‘contain and call out’ of a male suspect at the residence around 8:30 p.m..

Just before 10 p.m. Joplin SWAT assembled on location. The ‘contain and call out’ continued after the Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) armor vehicle used by SWAT appeared in front of the residence. The MRAP is used as a block, to protect officers, and allow them to get closer to the target of an investigation.

Capt Duncan tells us it is an isolated incident. They have asked neighbors to stay inside their residences. And they ask the public to avoid the area.
