Infant suffers serious injuries in crash, children 4 and 9 also hurt; Jeep goes off-road and flips near Alba, Mo.

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — Just before 3:00 p.m. Monday, Jasper County E-911 were alerted to reports of a crash at CR200 and Kafir Road, south of Alba, Mo.

Tri-Cities Fire District, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies, and METS ambulance responded emergency. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified. 

On the scene we learn it was a single vehicle crash. MSgt B. Fischer tells us the Jeep was traveling south on CR200.

There were five in the vehicle. All were transported to a Joplin hospital. The Missouri State Highway Patrol release their preliminary crash report. The following is the status of injuries:

  • Infant male, less than one year old, of Miami, Okla. suffered serious injuries
  • Male, 4, of Miami, Okla. suffered moderate injuries
  • Female, 9, of Miami, Okla. suffered moderate injuries
  • Kara Mitchell, 37, of Gravette, Ark. suffered serious injuries
  • The driver, Tamra Carlin, 53, of Neosho, Mo. suffered moderate injuries

“[Jeep] traveled off the right side of the road and struck a ditch. [Jeep] went airborne, returned to the road and left the right side of the road, again striking the ditch and then overturned.”

All five occupants were wearing seatbelts or belted in a car seat.

Schrader’s Towing removed the vehicle and debris from the SW corner of the intersection.
