JOPLIN, Mo. — Capt William Davis of the Joplin Police Department tells us just after Noon the four-hour incident is over. They are now investigating a self-inflicted gunshot wound that sent a man to a local hospital with injuries unknown at this time.

He tells us that the original call was for a suspicious person on a construction site, just south of Enterprise and Industrial.

Upon arriving the man displayed a weapon and threatened to harm himself. The entire ordeal occurred outdoors.

Some buildings were put on lockdown nearby, and traffic was halted through the area.

The individual did fire his weapon numerous times into the air throughout the incident.

Capt Williams tells us officers did not fire any weapon.

Shortly before Noon the victim suffered a self-inflicted GSW and was transported Priority One, lights and sirens, to an area hospital.

The situation on Industrial Drive is over and there is no longer a threat to the public. Shortly before noon, the subject sustained a self inflicted gunshot wound and was immediately rendered aid by officers and medics and rushed to a local hospital. Investigators are currently on scene conducting an investigation. At this time
We are not releasing the identity of the subject. No other individuals or officers were injured during the incident. Further details may be released as they become available

ORIGINAL : JOPLIN, Mo. — About 8:15 a.m. authorities responded to Joplin/Webb City Industrial Park. A male experiencing a mental health crisis. Roads are blocked in the area.

Earlier this morning the Joplin Police Department responded to an individual with a gun at 3220 Industrial Park Drive. Officers have made contact with this individual and began trying to deescalate the situation and have requested the assistance of JPD SWAT. Members of JPD SWAT Team are on scene along with crisis negotiators and the operation is currently ongoing at this time. We are asking citizens to please avoid the area. Further updates will be provided as they become available.”
