Pickup plows into car, injury crash rural Carl Junction, Mo.

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — About 10:30 a.m. Thursday Jasper County Emergency 911 were alerted to a two vehicle crash at Peace Church and Schifferdecker Ave. 

Carl Junction Fire, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies, METS ambulance responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified. MoDOT Emergency Response assisted with traffic control.

The preliminary report is released by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.


Bethann Watts, 18, of Joplin, Mo. was driving a 2003 Ford Escape. She was traveling south on Schifferdecker Ave. She suffered moderate injuries in the crash. 

Her passenger, Danielle Watkins, 19, also of Joplin, suffered minor injuries. 

They were struck by a 1996 Ford F-350 being driven by John Peitrzk, 72, of Joplin. He suffered moderate injuries. 

Crash occurred as [F-350] traveling eastbound on Peace Church traveled through the intersection and struck [Ford Escape].”

All persons involved were wearing seat belts and transported to Freeman West by METS ambulance. 

M&M Towing and Cottrill’s Wrecker removed the vehicles from the scene.
