DWI crash: SUV leaves roadway overturning at 90° curve; I-44 S. Outer Rd to S. Duquesne at Silver Creek

NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. — Thursday just after 3:15 PM reports of an SUV overturned on South Duquesne Road, south of I-44. Descriptions were the crash was located as the 90° road turns west to south.

Redings Mill Fire District, Newton County Ambulance, Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies respond. Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified.

The lone occupant was the driver in this single vehicle crash, Ladarius Johnson, 26. He was operating the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban traveling south on South Duquesne Road just south of the Joplin city limits. He was transported Mercy hospital suffering serious injuries.

The vehicle left the roadway shortly after the 90° curve and then overturned. Extensive damage to the vehicle, a total loss. He was wearing his seat belt according to the initial report released just after 6:00 PM.

Johnson was cited for DWI and Careless and Imprudent driving. He was arrested and released to seek medical treatment. He will appear in Newton County court on the two charges.
