Saturday morning at 12:50 AM Joplin News First was covering a fire at 109 N Byers that was determined to be arson. We can’t be everywhere at once so we weren’t able to cover this story until an unnamed tipster sent us pics.
INCIDENT: Vehicle stop for lane violations, vehicle failed to yield to officers. Crash occurred at Perkins / Maiden Lane, 1 adult male arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Suspended, Property Damage and Resisting by Fleeing.
ARRESTED: Colton E Spor, 23, Carterville.
OPERATING: 1989 Chevy Silverado
Messages came in on the tipline asking about multiple officers on West 7th and North Maiden Lane. It was a police pursuit, albeit a short one.
Use your finger and see the intersection where Spor ran through the dead end going North at Perkins destroying the fencing.
The officer initiated a traffic stop on the truck at W 7th / S Maiden Lane for the violations. The truck stopped at the steady red light in the north bound turn lane. After a short time the light turned green for the truck to turn north bound. The truck turned north bound and failed to stop for emergency lights and siren. The truck fled a short distance to W Perkins / N Maiden Lane where it crashed through a fence at the intersection and came to a stop. – JPD
