Witnesses say the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed. Joplin Police tell us the crash is still under investigation.
JOPLIN, Mo. — Sunday evening around 8:45 p.m. Joplin Police Emergency Dispatch were alerted to a two-vehicle crash at East 15th and South Connecticut.
Joplin Police, Joplin Fire and METS ambulance responded.
A full-size pickup had violently rolled onto the front lawn of the Roi Wood Educational Center of Joplin R-8 Schools. It came to rest 1/2 block away from the intersection where it had struck a small passenger car t-bone.
Cpl. Sean Higgins of the Joplin Police Department tells us on scene the pickup was traveling west on E. 15th and struck the passenger car that was eastbound turning to northbound.
Only two people were involved. Driver of each vehicle was transported to hospital by METS suffering non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses at the scene tell us the pickup was traveling at a very high rate of speed.
Joplin Police tells us the crash is currently under investigation.
