JOPLIN, Mo. — About 11:45 a.m. Thursday reports of a two vehicle crash closing Murphy Blvd at East 5th in all directions.
Joplin Police Dept, Joplin Fire Dept and METS ambulance responded emergency.
Two vehicles involved. Joplin Police traffic officers tell us the driver of a passenger car traveling east on 5th struck a pickup, the truck then swerved into Joplin Creek.
Two people were transported with non-life threatening injuries to area hospitals.
The roadway was closed for an extended period of time as firefighters set booms in the water to dam and soak any fluid and fuel spill in the creek.
An additional wrecker was summoned at the owner request to remove the pickup from the creek. Joplin Police standard procedure, owners have an option of choosing who they want to tow a vehicle. If they have no preference one is chosen from those available on the approved rotation list.
