JOPLIN, Mo. — Monday at 12:05 PM a light pole near 34th and Main fell over, across the southbound lanes.

Traffic was diverted as both southbound lanes were blocked for a time.

Liberty Utilities were contacted immediately according to radio traffic to remove the pole and make repairs.

Monday afternoon a Liberties Utilities spokesperson tells Joplin News First they are not sure what caused the pole to fall, though wind is a probable cause. It will be replaced with a new pole.

This is the second aluminum pole to come down in recent weeks. Though they are obviously not related. The first pole came down in a medical-related vehicle crash on Feburary 29 at 9th and South Main.
