JOPLIN, Mo. — Wednesday morning at 8:00 AM in the 2400 block of South Willard was reported as a porch fire to Joplin Emergency Dispatch.
Joplin Fire Department responded along with Joplin Police to assist with laying lines of hose. As Cecil Floyd Elementary was beginning their school day nearby police assisting with closing roads. You could be ticketed heavily or jailed for running over a fire hose in the city of Joplin.
As Joplin Fire arrived less than three minutes later, initial radio observed an exterior house fire and they were immediately out for attack. Fire command requested a second alarm as the Battalion Chief arrived seeing smoke from about a mile away.

We learn at the scene everyone in the house made it out safely, and all pets. The residential structure is a small family with four children. A vehicle was also caught in the fire as the blaze initially spread.
The home suffered major damage. The Joplin Fire Marshal was at the scene conducting their initial investigation into the cause of the fire. More information is anticipated later Wednesday.
