Box truck burns I-44 westbound at 18MM, total loss

Fire was reported shortly after 8:00 AM Friday morning.  The vehicle was traveling westbound and stopped on the shoulder at 18MM on the western edge of the city limits of Fidelity.  

There the driver exited the vehicle safely and the box truck became fully engulfed.  

When Carthage Fire Department arrived on the scene minutes later it took them less than 10 minutes to have the fire under control.

MODOT SWMO Emergency Response held traffic briefly until fire was controlled and then directled one lane of traffic.  

Missouri State Highway Patrol and Jasper County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the incident.
