Baxter Springs, Kan. Fallen Firefighter honored

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Kan. — Services for Fallen Firefighter Lt. Malachi Brown were Sunday afternoon. The procession from Tennessee Prairie Friends Church to Baxter Cemetery was two miles long according to Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies who held traffic.

Lt. Brown was carried atop a Baxter Springs fire truck and crossed under the American flag held by ladder trucks from mutual aid departments, Galena Fire and Columbus Fire and Rescue.

“In accordance with Executive Order #20-30, the Governor has directed flags across Kansas to be flown at half-staff on Sunday, November 21, in honor of the service and sacrifice of Baxter Springs Firefighter Lt. Malachi Brown.”
