🚨 CAUTION ⚠️ — DO NOT SWIM OR PLAY IN WATER  — SMALL CREEKS CAN BE DEADLY

Kids are out of school and it’s an important conversation worth having with kids.  Many people now have kayaks, but a reminder that this water is dangerous.

Joplin, Mo. A Joplin man drowns after saving two boys from a drainage ditch north of 7th Street. [in Ewert Park]

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 50 year old Anthony Cox entered the ditch to rescue his son and another child who were playing near the water and were swept away. After rescuing the two boys, Cox was swept under and drowned.

He was pronounced dead just before 4 pm.
