Joplin man sentenced to 10 years for child pornography

A Joplin man will spend more than a decade behind bars for receiving and distributing child pornography.

A judge sentenced 36 year old Michael Eden to 12 years in federal prison without parole. The court also sentenced Eden to 10 years of supervised release following incarceration. Eden plead guilty back in December to the charges.

Joplin police started investigating Eden last June after receiving a call about the sexual exploitation of a 12 year old child. The victim received text messages from Eden, indicating he had romantic feelings for the child. Investigators discovered 70 images of child pornography on Eden’s cell phone and several hundred images on his computer.
