Joplin family turns bottles into money for charity

News

An area family is using their artistic talents to give back to the community.

The Joseph Family of Joplin operates a charity called “Lights of Hope.” They take ordinary bottles and turn them into works of art, then donating the proceeds to a host of local organizations.

Today’s recipient was Turnaround Ranch. Operations manager Wendy Jones says the fifteen hundred dollar plus donation will go towards buying new bedding for the young people that live there.

“You know it’s one thing when we work everyday and we’re here for them, but it means something else, it gives them hope that someone who you know is expecting nothing in return and just loving them unconditionally by giving. That’s important to them and it’s important to us and it’s nice to see the community do that,” says Wendy Jones.

“We’ve made and donated over $15 thousand dollars and as far as bottles go, that means about like 760 that we’ve sold, and that doesn’t even take into account the bottles we didn’t think were good enough that are just sitting in our garage,” says Richie Joseph with Lights of Hope.

The family started the charity business last year.
