Joplin City Council approves a $5 million dollar project to continue street construction

This project will widen the street from Connecticut Avenue to Range Line to 5 lanes.

Sidewalks will also be installed on both sides of the street, as well as a round-a-bout at the intersection of 44th and Connecticut.

The Public Works Director says this is all important to keep up with the population expansion in the area.

Public Works Director David Hertzberg says, “There’s a lot of growth taking place out in that area and a lot of potential growth. The hospital and the school out in that area and the retail development that has gone and taken place and yet a lot of additional development to take.”

This project is paid by a Capitol Improvement Sales Tax that was voted on in 2014.
