Parsons Police Arrest Suspect in Child Abuse Case_5604276115077939402

A 6-month-old baby boy is recovering from what appears to be intentional burns.

Joplin Police were dispatched to Mercy Hospital Joplin just after midnight, Sunday night, for a possible child abuse case. Doctors confirmed to officers that burns on the boy’s body looked as if they were intentional, caused by something like a curling iron.

Investigators further found the home the boy lived in on Byers Avenue to be in poor condition, so he and a sibling under the age of 2 years old were removed from the home.

Both children have been placed in the care of a family member. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
