Jasper County homes are seeing an increase in property values which could have an impact at tax time.
The Jasper County assessor is wrapping up a state-required reassessment of all real estate in the county. Connie Hoover says that values have gone up in most areas due to increased building costs, low interest rates and a strong economy. She will mail impact notices to owners whose property value is up. You can appeal the total but must contact the county by June 14th. Hoover adds an increase may not lead to a higher tax bill if taxing entities like the city or school district roll back their levy.
