Jasper County Commissioners have hired Treanor Architects to design a second phase of construction in the county. That includes an expansion at the Jasper County Jail, a new courtroom and security improvements at the Carthage Courthouse, and a new courts building in Joplin.
“They have a really, probably one of the top guys in the state on historical buildings work for them so that’s a big thing we want here,” says Jasper County Commissioner John Bartosh.
Voters approved funding the projects last month, an extension of the county quarter cent sales. Commissioners plan to finish paying off the county juvenile center before starting any new construction, possibly in 2020.
