Hundreds grabbed a broom or wand and started their morning with a little magic while racing through the streets of Joplin.
This morning marked the Inaugural Wizarding 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run downtown.
The crowd of nearly 1,700 people filled main street dressed in their best Harry Potter themed attire.
Downtown was decorated with magical sights and sounds, and even took runners through a dark and sinister alley in the last mile.
Everyone received a custom medal, wand and free Butterbeer at the finish line.
Vendors also provided food and items to match the atmosphere, and some residents could even catch a Quidditch match demonstration.
Proceeds from the event will go towards the Ozark Center’s Turnaround Ranch, a residential treatment facility for kids and teens with behavioral problems.
