Hit and run lawsuit against Lance Lee dropped

News

The civil lawsuit against the driver accused in a deadly hit and run accident has been dropped.

The Jasper County judge dismissed the case at the request of the attorney for the father of the victim, Destiny Chambers. The wrongful death lawsuit was filed last week – targeting Illinois truck driver Lance Lee, his employer Holland Freight, and the John Doe Freight Broker & Equipment owner in Clayton, Missouri.

Lee is accused of hitting and killing the Joplin eight year old as she crossed Newman Road on foot last month. The civil suit was dismissed without prejudice, meaning it can be re-filed.
