As the school year is coming to a close, Grove Middle School principal Pat Dodson is preparing for a new role.
Dodson has been selected to serve as the grove school district’s next superintendent. He says this has been a dream of his for quite some time and he is ready to embark upon this new challenge.
“Mainly what I want to do is I’m going to come in and I want to keep us moving forward, I don’t want us to take steps backwards and I don’t want to stay still,” says Pat Dodson.
Dodson, current Grove Middle School principal, brings a wealth of experience to his new role of superintendent having served in education in a variety of different entities for the past 25 years.
“We start the core with the relationships building meaningful between students and teachers, between students and themselves, teachers and community members,” says Dodson.
Dodson has been spending the past few months working with current superintendent Sandy Coaly. He adds she has provided a hands on learning experience for him allowing him to become knowledgeable about her daily operations.
“Whether it’s the hiring and firing of staff whether it’s contracts that we have to renew or money that needs to be spent,” says Dodson.
Dodson has major goals upon assuming the position.
“I want to be able to be the best possible in curriculum and instruction. We’re going to make sure the teachers are delving the written curriculum so we can do good on our state assessments,” says Dodson, “want to make sure that our facilities our top notch.”
Many in the district have high hopes for him to take on this new role.
“He always strives to do better. He always finds way to try to make a better program. He is there for the kids 100% for the kids and he’s also there for us,” says Donna Deason.
Dodson adds once school closes, he will be able to fully take on training for the role of superintendent. He is slated to officially start his new duties July 1st.
