Gov. Parsons names two new Board of Education members

News

The Missouri Board of Education is back in business as the Missouri governor names two new members.

Mike Parson has chosen Peter Herschend of Branson and Carol Hallquist of Kansas City as the latest additions. The Board of Education had been reduced to just three of eight members before the appointments.

The new governor has been reviewing not only state boards and commissions but the directors of state departments – which he says he has no plans to change.

“What I know so far in my short term in the governor’s office – they’re good, professional, qualified people. So for right now it’s a matter of telling them – hey go out there and do your jobs,” says Parson.

The newest appointments to the state Board of Education still leave three seats vacant.
