Gov. Colyer signs order providing paid parental leave to state employees

Kansas governor Jeff Colyer signs an order providing paid parental leave to all state employees.

Under the order, all state employees under the jurisdiction of the governor will be eligible for paid leave following the birth or adoption of a child. Primary care givers will receive six weeks of paid leave, and secondary caregivers will receive three weeks of paid leave. Employees will receive 100 percent of their regular salary during that period.

The policy covers 17 thousand state employees.
