George Washington Carver event aims to help residents rejuvenate

News

George Washington Carver National Monument wrapped up National Park Week with a day of health and rejuvenation.

Park rangers hosted a variety of activities Sunday for Park RX Day.

People could walk around the park or practice yoga.

There was also a nutrition workshop with cooking demonstrations and a nutrition presentation.

Leading a healthy lifestyle is something Carver strived for himself and for others, and the event was a way the park highlighted that.

Randall Becker, George Washington Carver Park Ranger, says, “We often think of [Carver] as an innovator or educator, but also a humanitarian. So, we are showing that today here I think. People from the healthcare community coming to help us out and help each other out.”

George Washington Carver National Park’s next big event will be hosting National Trails Day on June 1.
