Gas Prices on the Rise Due to Harvey

Joplin, Mo.- The impact of Hurricane Harvey could force you to pay more at the gas pump this holiday weekend.

AAA Travel Agency is expecting fuel prices to rise due to the flooding of significant coastline refineries. Right now, the nation wide gas average is $2.38.

Going into Labor Day, you should prepare for an increase of 26-cents, but it doesn’t stop there.

The impact could linger for several weeks or longer, depending on how long it takes Texas refineries to return to normal operations. And experts say it could ultimately go up to just under three dollars.
