Fort Scott Community College recently received some grants to help improve the quality of its rodeo program.
The program received a $55 thousand dollar grant from the Timken Foundation to help replace the old lighting system that didn’t offer enough light for the arena. The grant will also help pay for mud covers to go on the south end of the arena. Fort Scott Community College President Alysia Johnston says she is happy to see the improvements to the facility as some of the fixtures have been there since 1975.
“We’ve always had great facilities but you can imagine over time that we’re needing to do some upgrading,” says Alysia Johnston.
The college also received a grant from the Fort Scott Community Foundation. And those funds have gone to creating better wheelchair accessibility for rodeo patrons.
