Many Farm Service Agency offices will reopen temporarily to perform certain services for farmers and ranchers.

FSA employees have been recalled to open offices on January 17th, January 18th, and January 22nd. FSA staff will assist with producers involving farm loans and to ensure the agency provides 1099 tax documents to borrowers by the IRS deadline.

Staff members will also be available help in producers with processing payments made on or before December 31, 2018, continuing expiring financing statements, and opening mail to identify priority items.

Also, farmers who have loan deadlines during the lapse in funding do not need to make payments until the government shutdown ends.

While January 15th was the original deadline for producers to apply for MFP, the USDA has now extended the deadline for a period of time equal to the number of business days FSA offices end up being closed, once the government shutdown ends. For more information, click here
