Two local hospitals launch a new collaboration to provide better access to medical care.
Freeman Health System and Labette Health have officially joined forces. Administrators at both hospitals say the agreement allows them to work together more seamlessly — especially since the healthcare industry is going through the most significant change in the last 50 years. The two hospitals had already been working together over the past 15 years in specialties like cardiology, ob/gyn, endocrinology, and ear, nose, and throat.
“It’s very, very important that Freeman Health System collaborate with area hospitals, partner with them, to help provide the most comprehensive array of services possible for these smaller communities,” says Paula Baker, Freeman Health System Pres. & CEO.
“The more patients that we can keep here, in our area and in our region, rather than send to another area, keep resources here at home for us to continue to expand and improve care,” says Brian Williams, Labette Health Pres. & CEO.
Employees will not be affected by the agreement and both healthcare entities will remain independent of each other.
