Employees in an area health system are helping out their fellow workers in need this holiday season.
The annual Freeman Family Christmas Program is underway. It allows employees to help make sure co-workers have something under the tree this year. It works by posting what families need but, for one reason or another, can’t afford it themselves. Director of service excellence, Ryan Melton says some of the stories are heart breaking, but says it’s heartwarming knowing that employees can help each other out in times of need.
“Disease in the family, terminal disease, taking time off of work, whatever those may be opportunity for us to help them, they apply to say ‘I need some help at Christmas time,’ we review all those applications and then we offer the opportunity for employees to help those employees out,” says Ryan Melton.
Employees can select an anonymous family, purchase items they’ve requested and bring them back by December 14th.
