The cooler temperatures in the early morning didn’t stop hundreds of runners and walkers Saturday.
Saturday was the 9th Annual Freeman Family 5K and Fun Run.
A portion of the money raised from the 5k registration goes towards Freeman Health System’s NICU.
This race originally started as a way to get Freeman Health System employees excercising and since then has grown to where the entire community comes out as well.
Kris Drake, Race Director says, “It’s a great first 5k for people that have wanted to do one, because it’s not a really large one and it’s a friendly atmosphere, coming out with your coworkers. It’s just really fun.”
Saturday’s route started and ended at the Joplin Family YMCA where children and families came out for the annual Healthy Kids Day.
