A former Jasper county judge will lead the effort to address thousands of rape kits left untested in Missouri.
M. Keithly Williams was named the head of the State Attorney General’s Sexual Assault Kit Initiative. She plans to complete a detailed inventory of the kits at police departments and hospitals through Missouri in the next six months. The focus will then move to forensic DNA testing and the creation of an electronic tracking system. Williams has served as a trial judge in Jasper county in the past and more recently has been in charge of the St. Louis treatment court.
