A local daycare is celebrating its expansion into the Early Head Start Program.

Footprints and Friends is now operating two new classrooms thanks to a Head Start grant through the Economic Security Corporation. Owner Christine Baird says that not only means more space for young kids, but better training for her staff.

“And it allows the families in the community to get help they would not have had as far as finding jobs, having childcare, and not have the stress of paying for the diapers, the childcare and everything,” says Christine Baird.

Footprints and Friends is one of ten sites to benefit from a six million dollar grant through the Economic Security Corporation, and the only private business to take part. Overall, the effort is adding space for 74 Head Start children.
